After working many years in the medical industry, John D. Thomas, MD, noticed a severe lack of continuity in the care provided to patients as they moved from facility to facility, specifically for the treatment of wounds. Dr. Thomas decided to pioneer a new idea in the way healthcare is done and thus created Solutions Medical Group, PLLC (also referred to as SMG). Even before the birth of his own company, Dr. Thomas expanded his knowledge of how to treat wounds in every direction possible.

Dr. Thomas completed his residency at St. John Providence Hospital in metro Detroit, later moving to Longview, Texas, where he became the director of the Center for Advanced Wound Care. He is one of a small number of physicians certified in wound care by the American Board of Wound Healing.

Dr. Thomas teaches classes in advanced wound care each week to the nurses he works with at various facilities. He emphasizes being proactive instead of reactive when it comes to treating wounds, resulting in better patient outcomes.

Dr. Thomas has taken interactional leadership roles as Wound Care Director in multiple health care agencies, championing the educational advancement of the wound care teams in these facilities. Dr. Thomas’ goal in Solutions Medical Group is to coordinate comprehensive wound care to provide exceptional care that targets improved patient outcomes and reduced medical cost.
